unsettled 4 week old

My 4 week old son becomes very unsettled of a night time. I am being told that he has wind pain. I am using Infacol Drops which seem to help sometimes. Is there any thing else i can do to help my son.He sleeps really good during the day and is only unsettled of an evening. He is being bottle fed. I am a second time mum at 44 and would like some advice from other mums out there experiencing this same problem. I am being told he will get better as he gets older. I dont like to see my son in such pain. Please help, i am willing to try anything to settle my son.

Dear Concerned Mother,
I have a 4 week old daughter and i have found that if she is very unsettled with her wind pain that a warm bath works wonders.
Not only does it relax them, it also relaxes their bowel and lower digestive system.Don't be surprised if your son poos in the bath, it just means he is relaxed and he is ridding himself of the wind pain.
hope this helps

My bub had really bad wind.

My bub had really bad wind. I found infacol before every feed prevented wind. But if wind had built up, I use Infant's Friend and this relaxes the muscles. Putting him on his tummy across your arm, whilst walking around, or on your lap also helps get the wind out. So does a tummy massage, clockwise. Good luck!

Is he showing signs of wind?

Is he showing signs of wind? Pulling legs up? Moving tongue in and out of mouth? My son used to give me these signs when he had wind. I know it can be hard but try and keep your baby away from fans or breezie areas and if you have to go out, buy one of those clear wind protectors for your pram. I used infant friend for my little boy, but I really don't know how well it worked. Try giving him a warm bath and gently massage his belly with lotion.
Just another piece of advice, some babies get confused with day and night. During the day make his room light by opening curtains or blinds. Open the window (depending on wind) and try using a radio for noise. Then after his last feed for the afternoon, shut the window and close curtains or blinds, turn radio off and make room dark. Also try wrapping him at night. My son used to wave his arms in his sleep and wake himself, so wrapping worked a treat with settling him.
